What Will Be In The Ceremony?

Capture your loved ones essence, personality and lifestyle. Each of us are unique and we need a ceremony that reflects that.

​I view it as a life celebration where we share who they were, embracing their unique personality and qualities. We're celebrating their essence and the significance they held in our lives.

It's perfectly okay to recount funny stories and reminisce about the good times. It's okay to let yourself smile and even share a laugh.

We can be authentic and describe them just as they were. If they were headstrong and you could never win an argument with them, we can absolutely acknowledge that as part of their story.

It's all about honesty, authenticity, and ensuring that everyone leaves feeling, "That send-off truly reflected them—it was wonderful."

Your family can be as involved as much as you want, and I'll work closely with you to bring your vision and ideas to life. You can have friends or family share or write the life story (eulogy), read, sing, or even dance—whatever feels right. I'm happy to officiate the entire ceremony or e the funeral MC and bring it all together.  It's entirely up to you.

The ceremony will be what you want, with your complete input ensuring it's a true reflection of your loved one.

Ceremony Writing Timeline 

Family members can zoom in at our meeting to discuss details of the ceremony with us.

I believe in connecting with the family as soon as possible after the loss, so there's ample time to create a meaningful service.

Our initial meeting, whether online or in person, typically takes around 90 minutes. Family members are welcome to join us via Zoom or call in to provide their input.

I usually require a minimum of 24 to 48 hours to craft the ceremony.

I'm available for communication through email, phone, text, or in-person meetings as needed. 

​I'll share the DRAFT ceremony through Google Docs for your editing and feedback. Time is of the essence, and I would like to have completed the FINAL ceremony at least a full day before the funeral, memorial, or remembrance.

This allows you and your family spend the day together without worrying about the ceremony. It also gives me time to practice the delivery of the ceremony.

I aim for you to attend the funeral, memorial, or remembrance with the confidence that you're in capable hands and everything is well taken care of. On that day, you can focus solely on yourselves and your family.

The Day of the Service

The day before and the morning of, I would have practised reading the ceremony out loud. I will print the ceremony and have it in a hard-covered folder with plastic sleeves (in case it rains and we are outside).

Location: Aoraki Funeral Services Lounge

• I would have confirmed the date and time of the ceremony.
• Depending on the location and type of ceremony, I will arrive 60 to 30 minutes ahead of time as planned. ​
• I will test the microphone prior to start time (if one is required)
• Confirm is there are any last minute changes, and amend ceremony if required.
• Liaise with the funeral director/venue organiser /who is in charge

During the ceremony, you can expect me to deliver it with a professional and clear speaking voice. I'll speak naturally, just as I would when talking to someone in person.

I will adhere closely to the script that we've previously confirmed. We will have already discussed all the options and possibilities, so there won't be any surprises.
