Get married at my home, your home or Timaru Gardens, Caroline Bay or park within Timaru.

​There is no extra charge to marry on council grounds, but permission does need to be asked at the council. I can help with the paperwork and fill it in on your behalf.

My office:  in Queen Street ~ Limited to the couple and your two witnesses at my home

​Private home,  gardens, beach or public park ~ Limited to the couple and 10 guests

Registry Wedding Conditions

I am appointed to perform Registry Style weddings on weekdays *excludes weekends |public holidays | Christmas/New Year holiday period.) 

Strict Conditions imposed by Birth Death and Marriages include:

• When - Monday to Friday *Excludes public holidays| weekends | Christmas/New Year holiday period).
• Hours - Marry between the hours of 8:30am and 5:00pm
• Price - Set fee of $90 with no additional fees.  Payable in advance.
• Guests - Ten guests maximum ( plus the couple) 
• Photographers | Wedding Party etc - You cannot involve other parties other than the celebrant in a registry ceremony. This includes wedding planners, MCs, professional photographer, videographer, bridesmaids, or a best man. (Yes, you can have guest take photos or video  on their phone)
• ​Location -   You can have it at your home/grounds only if it is within Timaru Urban.  I can offer inside my office if it is just the couple and your two witnesses at no charge.  The couple are responsible for and arranging and paying for the location if council asks for a charge. A registry ceremony cannot be held in a wedding or function centre, hotel or restaurant. Examples of acceptable venues are private home or a public council parks or beach. 
• Travel – I will travel at no charge if it is in your home/grounds within Timaru Urban. I cannot marry you in a registry wedding outside of Timaru township.
• Ceremony - You will be delivered the official registry style vows as supplied by the Department of BDM. Read here.  Please note: The ceremony cannot be altered or personalised with vows. The ceremony will take no more that 20 minutes  from the booked time.
