Real Wedding Story: For them, the decision to elope was easy. They wanted a low-key and easy wedding that suited their personalities so I helped them make it happen, all within a week of contacting me. Read their story. Intimate Elopement at Caroline Bay Lookout: A Beautifully Private AffairTheir Saturday started with showers that teased us on and off during the morning. By lunchtime, the skies had cleared, revealing a beautiful, bright sun and white meandering clouds.
This loving couple had set their wedding ceremony on the Caroline Bay Lookout. This lookout gave us glorious views of the Pacific Ocean, the Southern Alps Mountain Range, Timaru township, the penguin colony and our working Port. The port noise seemed to cease during the ceremony, so the sounds of seagulls and waves became our background music. There were no people around us either. Why Did They Elope? Their decision to elope was easy for them. They were private people and wanted no stress and ease (without expensive costs). They wanted a low-key and easy wedding that suited their personalities. As self-proclaimed foodies, they decided to spend their special day exploring new places to eat in Timaru. After 5 and 1/2 years together, they wanted to tie the knot. They contacted me the week before, and we had it sorted in three days when their license arrived in my inbox. One of the main reasons they chose to elope was the anxiety of picking people to join them at a smaller wedding back home. They preferred the idea of having a private dinner by themselves without any added stress. The Timing Of Their Day They drove from Christchurch and booked into their motel with an early check-in. They dressed; she wore her favourite blue dress, and he brought a new shirt for their wedding. Their motel was within walking distance, so they strolled to the bay for their 1:30 p.m. wedding. They met me at Caroline Bay with their photographer, who would also be a witness. I supplied the other witness. They spoke their heartfelt vows with ease. They had individually been in contact with me, worried they weren't good enough as they had written them just a few nights before. I assured them they were perfect ( they were!) and printed them out for them - to keep as a surprise for each other. The whole process, including the ceremony, vows, signing and photos, took just over an hour, which was perfect for them. They had other stressors of another family member's wedding in the same month, which further reinforced their decision to elope was the right one for them. They value their privacy and want to share their vows and feelings intimately without the presence of others. They believed that people often get caught up in what they should do rather than what they want to do when getting married. Congratulations C and L, it was a pleasure. Are you thinking of eloping? Let's chat and get you two lovebirds married. Love, Jade x September 2017 - Secret Elopement Wedding, Caroline Bay Lookout, Timaru Photo taken by witness while I was waiting for couple to arrive.
