Real Wedding Story. Let's embark on a journey through Emma and Tom's fun and fabulous love story, a real-life rom-com that deserves to be shared. They tied the knot at Trotts (Trotts Garden at Ashburton) Long-distance Love and Pandemic Challenges, Before Emma and Tom Tied The Knot at Trotts! It all began in the spring of 2016 in London. It was Tom's very first day of his big overseas adventure, and fate had something special in store. After arriving in London that morning and dropping off his luggage at his older brother's place, Tom headed to a local pub to meet up with his old friend Jack and a few of Jack's pals.
Little did he know, this day would mark the start of his incredible journey with Emma, whom he was about to meet. As luck would have it, Tom and Emma immediately hit it off. In fact, things went so well that they decided to book a vacation together in Greece for the following June. Back to New Zealand Fast forward a bit, and their overseas adventure came to an end. Tom returned to his hometown in Ashburton, while Emma returned to Gisborne to pursue her studies. This marked the beginning of their long-distance relationship. Though small in the grand scheme of things, their geographical distance posed its challenges. Even when they were 1044.2 kilometres apart, they managed to keep the flame of their love burning. New Adventures Before they knew it, a year had passed, and they were ready to embark on a new adventure together. They decided to relocate to the Gold Coast, seeking sunshine, fun, and a fresh start. They lived there for three months before they decided to move. With all their belongings squeezed into a 1995 hatchback Corolla, they set off on a three-day road trip to Melbourne. For 18 months, they enjoyed all that Melbourne had to offer. However, in March 2020, Melbourne went into lockdown due to the global pandemic. They were locked down together for a gruelling seven-month period. Popped The Question Eventually, they decided it was time to return to New Zealand, and forged out a happy life there. Tom decided to take their love to new heights and popped the big question in a surprising location—Thailand, at an Italian restaurant, no less! Emma and Tom organised their future and wedding amidst lockdowns and international moves. They chose to celebrate their special day at a local gem, Trotts' Garden, in Ashburton. Their Wedding Day The picturesque setting featured a stunning wooden geometric arch by a serene pond, making for a gorgeous ceremony backdrop. Their wedding photos were a testament to the beauty of Trotts' Garden and were captured by the talented team at Think Visuals from Nelson. Although they couldn't have all their overseas guests due to COVID restrictions, Emma and Tom found a clever way to include them in their celebration. They had their ceremony and speeches filmed so they could share a piece of their special day with their loved ones abroad. I created a fun and fabulous ceremony that captured their love, journey and hopes for the future. It was filled with laughs and love, and everyone was with them in the moment. But it didn't stop there. Their reception was equally incredible. They opted for a marquee set up on the grounds of Trotts' Garden, taking full advantage of the stunning surroundings. And when it came to the dance floor, Emma and Tom showed off their impressive dance moves, proving they're intrepid travellers and dance-floor dynamos! Kirk the DJ, kept them dancing all night. After all the adventures, long-distance love, and pandemic challenges, Emma and Tom could relax as they finally tied the knot and celebrated their incredible journey.
